A Photo Book - Work In Progress
Like a dream. Dreams are usually associated with real aspects or memories of our lives, mixed with a sense of strangeness and mystery. The relationships are skewed, fragmented and non chronological. Dreams are seldom resolved with the events distorted or non conclusive and surreal or ambiguous in nature.
When I was very young, my teachers would send home notes to my parents that I lacked concentration in class, like I was lost in thought; a day dreamer. I continue to day dream through the act of making and then arranging photographs, building visual worlds that are somewhat strange and disjointed.
My work lies somewhere between documentary, poetry and fiction. I make photographs of real things in my life; the people, objects and places I feel compelled to capture, and then sequence the pictures together to form a fictional open ended narrative. The photographs represent personal meaning for me but I am always hopeful that others will take the time to view the photographs and bring to them their own meaning.
