Like a dream. Dreams are often associated with real aspects or memories of our lives, mixed with a sense of strangeness and mystery. Dream sequences are seldom resolved, non chronological fragments, surreal or ambiguous in nature, and messaging us to look deeper into their meanings.
When I was very young, my teachers would send home notes to my parents that I lacked concentration in class, like I was lost in thought; a day dreamer. I continue to day dream through the act of making and then arranging photographs, building visual worlds that are somewhat strange and disjointed.
My work lies somewhere between documentary, poetry and fiction. I make photographs of real things in my life; the people, objects and places I feel compelled to capture, and then sequence the pictures together to form a fictional open ended narrative. The photographs represent personal meaning for me but I am always hopeful that others will take the time to view the photographs and bring to them their own meaning.
